Estimator-Wet Utility Construction-Upland, CA
- Description: Estimator/Jr.
Estimator/Project Manager-Commercial/Industrial & Public Works
Utility Construction for Wet Utilities
- Location: Upland Corporate Office
- Major Tasks and Responsibilities
include: develop and maintain a strong working relationship with the
major commercial/industrial developers, attend pre-bid meetings/job
walks and investigate project sites, review and understand all
construction documents (includes plans, specifications, addenda, bid
documents and geotechnical reports, perform complete and accurate
material take-offs, request quotes from potential subcontractors and
vendors, provide a complete estimate for labor, material and
subcontractor costs, review completed bid with senior
estimator/management, for awarded projects prepare budgets and job set
up for field, superintendents and accounting, coordinate all
pre-construction meetings (both internally and with client), prepare all
subcontracts and purchase orders to be issued through the accounting
staff, develop, prepare and maintain an accurate work schedule, attend
any regular construction management meetings, track project progress and
cost to budget, manage all changes in scope that require a change order
or extra work authorization, and verify all quantities, complete to
date or percentage of completion, to assist the accounting staff in the
preparation and submittal of accurate monthly progress/final billings.
- Requirements: 2-5 years of
experience and training in underground pipeline (water, storm drain and
sewer utilities), preferably in commercial/industrial construction,
experience in bidding and constructing Public Works project is a plus,
ability to thoroughly understand and interpret design drawings and
blueprints, proficient in the preparation of accurate and detailed bids,
strong communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written,
working closely with the customer/clients, vendors and co-workers,
ability to read, analyze and write business correspondence, possess the
ability to organize and manage multiple tasks at one time and must be
proficient with Windows OS, Microsoft Office and other basic computer
skills.

Fiber Optic Technician/Splicer-North Las Vegas
- Description: Splice fiber optic
cable in both outdoor and indoor settings. Read, create and maintain
splicing schematics and diagrams, maintain control of outside plant
(OSP) activities surrounding the assigned work site(s), taking and
maintaining accurate splicing and field notes, support project
timelines, and inspecting, designing and providing accurate staking
sheets for projects.
- Location-Satellite Office in Las Vegas, Nevada
- Major Tasks and Responsibilities
include: Splice fiber optic cables including both loose tube and ribbon
optic cables. Construct a proper splice case, including, but not
limited to: grounding, bonding, isolation, slack storage and sealing.
Prepare and maintain splicing records, schematics and diagrams. Perform
work in accordance with industry standards, prepare engineering field
notes, interpret buried underground and aerial telecom facilities in
records, on maps and in the field with clarity and detail and make
recommendations for changes in running line or construction
methodologies. Participate in engineering, permit and construction
processes to support project contracts and enter and maintain outside
plant records.
- Requirements: 3-5 years of
experience of construction with outside plant telecom engineering,
knowledge of OSP DAS system technology a plus, desirable work experience
includes field engineering and project lead responsibility, supervisory
experience a plus, in-depth understanding of technology based services,
products and networking. Strong computer skills with Microsoft
applications along with EXFO and NETTEST test equipment experience.
Experience in project management a plus. Knowledge of design
techniques, tools, principles involved in production or precision
technical plans, blue prints, drawing and models. Knowledge of how to
fusion splice both loose tube and ribbon fiber optic cables and how to
place a mid-sheath splice. Ability to work with clients regarding
engineering problems, confer with customer contacts while communicating
with the project manager. Ability to pay close attention to detail and
make good sound decisions based on information given. Ability to
multitask and stay organized under pressure. Must hold a valid drivers
license.
